AMERICAN Ambassador to Zambia Mark Storella says his government is keen to see Zambia develop.
Mr Storella said America will stand by Zambia to help it develop.
“America sees a bright future for Zambia, hence its desire to help the country develop,” he said.
Mr Storella was speaking at his residence on Tuesday night when he hosted the Venture Moody Band in commemoration of the American National Day.
“The world is looking to Zambia, which is among the top 10 fastest growing economies, and America wants to support Zambia,” Mr Storella said.
He said American companies are now interested in investing in Zambia because the prospects look bright.
“Zambia has a lot of potential to develop, even from its wildlife alone,” Mr Storella said.
He said the American government is also in support of the joint hosting of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation general assembly by Zambia and Zimbabwe as the event will attract investment into the two countries.
“Africans need to support each other in solving African problems. This is why the US has set up the United States Africa Command as a way of offering support to Africa,” Mr Storella said.
