CHINGOLA Arts Society (CAS), which has ushered in a new management team, intends to have six productions this year among them Breaking Pot, Not With My Daughter and Chopwe.
The other three plays will be confirmed in due course but the annual Banham Awards will be held on December 7, while the popular Zambia Cultural Night will take place on August 10.
Also on the menu are the Member’s Night and Miss CAS, which have been scheduled for October 23 and December 31, respectively.
CAS has ushered in a new team with Clement Muyasini as chairman, Percy Amutike (vice chairman), Kenneth Siyandi (honorary secretary), Chomba Musonda (honorary treasurer), Evans Mulenga (productions manager), Brian Shapi (bar manager), George Mandalazi (entertainments manager), Sam Mpemba (estates manager), Davies Chama (backstage manager), Elias Chabushiku (front of house manager) and Victor Musambo (eleventh manager).
Meanwhile, Lowenthal Theatre in Ndola, which is set to host the National Theatre Arts Association of Zambia (Nataaz) senior performing arts festival in September, is said to be undergoing repairs.
Abet Arts director Ackson Tembo said the repairs and refurbishment of Lowenthal are progressing well.
“I saw for myself and the site supervisor of the contracting firm carrying out the refurbishment and repairs confirmed to me… Lowenthal is set to reclaim its place as one of the top theatre clubs in Zambia, with a well maintained infrastructure,” he was quoted saying in the May edition of Abet Arts newsletter.
The works have been carried out at the office block, conference hall, the bar and the kitchen.
