Suns Magic in winning start

Munali Suns began their Midlands Basketball Association (MBA) title defence with a bang thumping promoted KSM Giants in a Week One fixture at National Sports Development Centre in Lusaka on Saturday.
Matero Magic top the standings after bashing University of Zambia (UNZA) Pacers 78-56.
Magic have two points, level with second-placed Suns, Red Arrows in third position and Green Buffaloes occupying the fourth slot.
Suns, who are chasing the third MBA title, started strongly with Jarred Mweetwa, Chipo Musongo, Harrison Banda and Chishala Musonda getting points for the first quarter to end 23-15.
The second quarter saw Suns lead 40-25.
With Giants on the back foot, Suns put the game beyond in the third quarter with a 56-40 margin.
The final quarter saw Suns win 76-56.
“This is a good way to start the season seeing that we want to defend our title. I am happy with the performance the boys put up and this is a clear direction for us to follow. Winning your first game is always good, it is something you can build on,” Suns coach Conrad Musonda said.
