POLICE in Kitwe on Wednesday picked up a body of a 61-year-old woman suspected to have been murdered and dumped in a drainage in Riverside residential area.
Acting Copperbelt commissioner of police Joyce Kasosa said in an interview yesterday that police picked up the body of Elina Hanangwe of house number 28, Pamo Avenue, Riverside in Kitwe.
Ms Kasosa said Ms Hanangwe’s body was found half-naked in the drainage, about 50 metres away from her house.
“I can confirm that on Wednesday, we picked up a body of a 61-year-old woman in Kitwe’s Riverside residential area. The body was lying face-up with her dress pulled up to the belly,” Ms Kasosa said.
She said police have launched investigations to establish the cause of death and are waiting for a postmortem report from Kitwe Central Hospital.
