President Sata is not short of people to serve in his government, hence the reason he has no problem replacing those that err or voluntarily resign, said Mandevu member of Parliament (MP) Jean Kapata.
Ms Kapata restated the fact that no one member is bigger than the party in the Patriotic Front (PF) because the institution is bigger than individual members under the leadership of President Sata.
“There is no one bigger than another member in PF,” Ms Kapata said, “that is why even when someone resigns President Sata does not have headaches replacing…the party is rock solid and full of skilled members and MPs.”
Ms Kapata, who is also Deputy Minister of Community Development, Mother and Child Health dismissed some local media reports credited to her regarding some party members.
“When I (Kapata) said no one member is bigger than the party,” Ms Kapata said, “I never mentioned a single minister or Member of Parliament by name, I never did that, so it is totally wrong and misleading to attribute a story to me naming names when I did no such thing.”
Ms Kapata challenged the media to “play the entire recording of the interview attributed to me so that they can demonstrate my naming party officials or government officials. I never did that and I was quoted totally out of context, a recording can prove that and put the matter to rest.”
Ms Kapata advised that it is time the PF moved forward in peace and unity instead of remaining in past divisions that could distract it from delivering progress to the people.
She also advised public media to continue remaining impartial and avoid the perpetuation of perceived divisions but instead foster unity and love.
Ms Kapata spoke in a walk in interview at the Daily Mail offices in Lusaka in order to clear what she felt was a distortion of facts.
She advised PF members, big and small, to continue rallying behind President Sata as he clearly means well for the party and nation in his pursuit for poverty reduction.
