ZRU general meeting on today

By HONE SIAME
MARTIN Musunka is assured of securing a four-year term as Zambia Rugby Union (ZRU) president after going through unopposed ahead of today’s elective annual general meeting (AGM) at Konkola Rugby Club in Chililabombwe.
The ZRU has extended the term of office from two to four years.
Musunka, who has been at the helm of the national rugby governing body for the last two years, has gone through unchallenged and so have actingvice-president Owen Mhango and general secretary Francis Chitambo.
Mhango has been acting as vice-president since the election of Joe Silwamba into the National Sports Council of Zambia (NSCZ) board last year.
Delegates will elect a treasurer, a position that has attracted two candidates – incumbent Obby Simuchile and Kabwe Kampamba of Ndola Wanderers Rugby Club.
The three committee member positions are being contested by Moono Muleya, John Chibuye, Sam Simwenda and Enock Shikabeta.
Chitambo said only three committee members will be elected into office.
