Let’s all condemn the tribalism talk

THE greatest show of leadership has since time immemorial been measured by the ability to practice what you preach and to show selfless respect for others in the discharge of duty and humility towards the flock that you lead.
All those aspiring to be leaders in Zambia must never promote tribalism. The scourge of tribalism, which is apparently emerging from UPND president Hakainde Hichilema should cause worries for all well-meaning
Zambians.
Tribalism is a word that must not be spoken in Zambia because other countries where tribalism was practiced ended up with big problems like genocide.
People expect that HH has seen enough of what engagement in tribal politics can do to a nation.
Most of us are living witnesses to the carnage that went on in Rwanda and many other countries like in Germany where tribalism was used to breed hatred against Jews in Nazi Germany.
Some whites used it against blacks during apartheid in South Africa, the Tutsis used it against Hutus in Rwanda, and it was used to divide Serb and Croatia in Bosnia and Kosovo.
We have a lot of examples for us to detest tribalism and anyone promoting it must be shown a red card from leadership circles of our country because as Zambians, we are all equal regardless of the tribe and colour.
Mr Hichilema, please, do not raise your children to hate the other tribes, they are the ones who may suffer from tribalism.
