PRESIDENT Sata has returned from Japan where he was attending the Fifth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD V).
The Presidential Challenger touched down at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport at about 13:15 hours. Mr Sata was given a thunderous welcome by Patriotic Front (PF) members.
President Sata was received by PF secretary general Wynter Kabimba, Ministears of Home Affairs (Edgar Lungu), Tourism and Arts (Sylvia Masebo) and deputy ministers of Home Affairs (Steven Kampyongo), Defence (Davies Mwango), and senior Government and PF officials.
Scores of PF cadres, singing songs of solidarity, also received the head of state.
President Sata was accompanied to Japan by Ministers of Commerce, Trade and Industry (Emmanuel Chenda), Foreign Affairs (Effron Lungu) and Lands and Natural Resources (Wylbur Simuusa) and the President’s assistant for press and public relations George Chellah.
While in Japan, Mr Sata addressed the TICAD V and emphasised the need for Africa to take charge of its development agenda.
Mr Sata also held private talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and discussed investment prospects and economic co-operation between Zambia and Japan.
