A FEATURE length film titled The Presidents Job Description which focuses on issues ranging from governance to development, by Yezi-Arts Promotions and Productions, one of the countrys upcoming arts promoters, is set for shooting on location in Zambia this June.
The feature film has been on cards for a number of years but the latest announcement by Yezi-Arts, who are also the organisers of the April International Theatre Festival (AITF), is the clearest indication yet that they are ready to roll.
We start rehearsals and recording in June, and hopefully post-production in July 2013. As we go on with the recordings we should be in a position to share snippets or the making of the movie. We surely will be balancing past and contemporary issues. Note that the setting of the film is futuristic – September 2021, a statement by Yezi-Arts says.
The producers are expected to brief the cast and crew on the project this week after which they will closely look at the production crew. However, director of operations Kalonje Ndhlovu is expected to be the artistic director while the director of photography is yet to be finalised.
Two camera operators and their assistants are also in place while the search for two editors is set to be finalised soon.
Yezi-Arts, who are also producers of Kavalamanja Remembered, a documentary which unveils the untold stories of Zambias support to the liberation struggle in southern Africa, are buoyed by the fact that local politics are becoming interesting.
The film is set for September 5, 2021 when the country has a new president in office. The new president has a pro-poor agenda, and comes from a strong legal, farming and community-engagement background.
Upon assuming office he immediately lays out his plan for the new administration writing the Presidents Job Description.
However, it is not an easy undertaking for the president as his walk through State House and governing the country reveal the twists and turns, and soon the president has to make decisions on whether or not the momentous task of writing his job description is attainable.
Thought-provoking, revealing, engaging piece of art … and not for the faint-hearted! We will be posting the making of the movie as we go on we do anticipate another busy period as we work on this thrilling feature-length film, Yezi-Arts says.
